The thing tattooed behind my neck is the Yuè lè, a Chinese ideogram representing Music and things related to it. When I decided about a tattoo, that was the only thing I was sure would have never disappeared: Music. I’ve had several idols and influencers, but Lou Reed, Elton John and Lucio Dalla have really changed and shaped my life, my being, my thoughts and sensibility. And they’ve strongly contributed to make my life worthwhile.
I’ve enjoyed singing since I was a little kid. My family encouraged me, my grandma signed me into a TV talent show, “il Cantapinocchio” which I joined winning on month contest session back in 1979. On 1989 I took some Clarinet sessions, but it was not my thing, I wanted to sing. It was in 1988 in London when I mada nother exibition to another talent contest during a Sumemr camp, gathering a great success among the people attending and frineds. So I stated learning playing keyboards and guitar, just for the fun of singing the songs I loved. Then Elton John and Lou Reed came into my life and my passion for playing music took another giant leap foward… Today I pretend to play piano, keyboards, guitar But I get a real kick out of singing.
Between 1992 and 1997 I’ve been the singer and lyricist of the rock band Mr Bloom, which has been probably my most significant and productive music experience together with the ‘Gianni on Trial’ sessions, where I wrote lyrics and music of few songs which still now are part of me and describe my adolescence feelings (“These songs were written between 1991 and 1994, the period before and across the first years of the Mr Bloom era. I think they represent the expression of unconscious, childish and frightened years…”)
I still play and sing, in my living room, and some times I record the noice and sound I produce, without any filter: TakeOne Recordings and Headless Recordings are few examples.
